Transforming Communities
At the Chelsea Bahá’í Institute, children, youth, and adults engage in their spiritual development through study, consultation, action, and reflection. Together, they explore spiritual concepts and put them into practice within their communities. As capacities for service grow, more complex forms of collective action become possible. In this way, the transformation of individuals and society advance hand in hand.

What is the Training Institute?
With over 2 million participants worldwide, the Institute’s activities focus on nurturing the spiritual life and well-being of communities, fostering the education of children and junior youth, and empowering both young people and adults. These efforts help shape a pattern of community life marked by fellowship, joy, mutual support, and collaboration. At its heart is the vision of a life dedicated to service to humanity and the transformation of society from its very foundations.
"The stronger the ties of fellowship and solidarity amongst men, the greater will be the power of constructiveness and accomplishment in all the planes of human activity."

A Two-Fold Moral Purpose
The refinement of character and service to humanity are inseparable qualities. This two-fold moral purpose shapes the efforts individuals make in every sphere of life. Service is essential to both individual and collective life, and each of us is called to be an active participant in social progress. Through our actions, and in our work and service within our communities, we strive to contribute to the betterment of society while developing our intellectual and spiritual capacities.

The purpose of the children’s class is to help kids ages 5 to 10 develop moral and spiritual qualities such as love, truthfulness, and honesty, so that as they grow, they can become selfless, active contributors to the well-being of their communities.

Open to everyone, study circles bring together people from diverse backgrounds to explore how the Bahá’í teachings can be applied to their personal and collective lives. Groups of friends, ages 15 and older, meet to study a sequence of courses inspired by the Bahá’í Writings and developed by the Ruhi Institute.

Junior youth groups are designed for young people between the ages of 11 and 15, and aims to help them recognize their inherent qualities and talents, such as a heightened awareness of reality, a strong sense of justice, and a spirit of selfless service to others.

Throughout the year, over long-weekends and school vacations, weekend and week-long camps are held where youth come together to study Ruhi courses, serve their communities, create art, pray and make meaningful and lasting friendships in an empowering environment created by youth, for youth.
